Ductile Iron
Ductile Iron, also known as nodular iron, is increasing in popularity due to its comparable strength to certain
steels, at a lower cost. Engineers are finding opportunities to replace multiple-component assemblies with a
single ductile iron casting, improving machine reliability and strength. Ductile iron castings are used in many applications such as valves, inlet guides, pipes, pressure vessels and industrial machinery. Ductile iron is often the preferred iron due to its favorable qualities such as corrosion resistance, strength, hardness and wear resistance.
Somerset Foundries produces ductile iron castings in accordance with ASTM A536 standards and pours 60-40-18; 65-45-12; 80-55-06 and 100-70-03.
Somerset Foundries’ capacity is from one to 1,800 pounds.
